5 out of 5 stars Creative Genius!!   July 27, 2010
jimtown (upmiusa)
Just the type of 'game' I was looking for after watching my grandson play Gary Gadget, also by Viva Media. This allows the freestyle building that boys with great imagination are so good at. I chose to start with the first version of Crazy Machines because it's both Mac and PC compatible, so I was able to put it on both our computers and we had fun learning and inventing at the same time.

My grandson at nine was a lot better at figuring out what to do with some of the components, but it wasn't long before I caught on and built my first working experiment. I used a crossbow to shoot and pop a rising balloon by using weights to trigger the action.

I really like the over 200 built in experiments which are great learning tools. Travis and I reinforce each other in the process. He's into chain reaction right now, so this game really keeps his attention but surprisingly, I really enjoy it too. How many kid games can you say that about!

All fun and always new!

5 out of 5 stars very stimulating   May 15, 2010

Love this game. Very stimulating. covers all areas of what I need to really enjoy this game.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome! My neice loved this product!   April 14, 2010
Jim Westbrook (WA, USA)
My sister originally let my neice try a similar program similar to this on a Windows 7 computer with a touch screen monitor. My neice totally enjoyed the program and wa slearning quite a bit with it. When my sister ended up losing that computer system, she asked me to search for a comparable program that will work on a non-touchscreen system and this is what I found. We have had it now for nearly a month and my neice still loves playing it and always makes sure to have homework and chores done as quickly as she can in order to play it everyday.

5 out of 5 stars Challenging and fun   February 19, 2010
Scott T (Manhattan, KS)
This game has my 9 yr old challenged, occasionally frustrated, but overall very entertained. The professor is annoying, but so far the rest of the game is just great. It's the sort of game that requires thinking that can spill out into the real world--on the first day she played it we ended up talking about motors, generators and energy conversion.

Works on Windows 7 64-bit after some compatibility adjustments. I forget precisely what I did, but I think I had to run the installer under XP service pack 2 compatibility.

4 out of 5 stars Fun game -- for Kids & Parents Together   September 13, 2009
M. Khus-zarate (USA)
My son and I have had fun playing this game together. He is 10 (I'm a bit older). Some of the puzzle/scenarios are pretty easy, while others are more challenging. The more complicated ones may offer more than one possible solution --we've had a couple of solutions that are different than the designer's "plan". I agree with previous reviews that kids can learn a little about physics, too. We discuss possible solutions together and try them out, and so the process is the real value in the game.
